I believe that cosplay is a form of performance art because we put so much time, effort and devotion into giving 2D images life and putting ourselves into the shoes of these characters. It is an escape from everyday life and a way of expressing one’s inner self. Through cosplay we forget all that weighs us down and “obtain” the power of confidence. Many people believe that cosplay is a childish thing to do, however that is not the case. The whole artistic and technical side to cosplay is not childish at all. How many people can say they can make Victorian styled dresses? How many people can say they can make swords, scythes? Not many at all. Cosplay to most people is something that gives life excitement, happiness, anticipation and joy.
